    Vancouver 2006 - From June 19 to 23, 2006, at the 3rd session of the World Urban Forum (WUF3) held in Vancouver (Canada), the UNESCO Chair in Urban Landscape at the University of Montreal (CUPUM) was represented by Philippe Poullaouec-Gonidec, its director, and Marie Lessard, Professor/Researcher of the Institute of Urban Planning, Faculty of Environmental Design of the institution. Mrs. Lessard presented a research by CUPUM conducted within the programme "Growing Up in Cities, Growing Up in Montreal-Nord" (14-16 June 2006 at UBC campus, GUiC + 10 - Ten years of Growing up in cities - Sharing lessons + planning for the future) and participated in the forum "Creating Better Cities with Children and Youth – Growing Up in Cities Project from UNESCO" (19 June2006).

    On the 2nd day of the Forum, June 20, 2006, the City of Montreal held a cocktail attended namely by Mr. Wataru Iwamoto (UNESCO), Helen Fotopulos (Mayor of Plateau Mont-Royal, City of Montreal), Mr. Gérald Tremblay (Mayor of the City of Montreal), Brigitte Colin (UNESCO) and André Lavallée (Mayor of the Borough of Rosemont - Petite-Patrie, City Montreal).

    The 2006 edition, under the theme "Our Future: Sustainable Cities - Turning Ideas into Action,” was organized by the Government of Canada in partnership with UN-HABITAT. Sessions of the World Urban Forum are held every 2 years to discuss accelerated global urbanization. This last session was significant as it coincided with the 30th anniversary of the first United Nations Conference on Human Settlements in 1976.
