As part of its response to the 2030 Agenda, UNESCO recently reinforced the global and multidisciplinary approach of its actions in cities by creating the UNESCO Cities Platform, which brings together eight UNESCO networks and programs. The UNESCO Cities Platform reflects the transversal approach of its engagements with cities, with the purpose of implementing the seventeen goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

In accordance with the World Cities Day 2019 theme, the UNESCO Cities Platform enabled thematic panel discussions, networking opportunities, and audiovisual presentations. The event also facilitated exchanges between peers on innovative practices implemented by partner cities in the UNESCO networks and programs.
