Anticosti Island (Pierre Lahoud)

For more than 30 years, UNESCO has been identifying sites that, by their exceptional value, are likely to be listed as world heritage. In response to the call made by Federal Minister of the Environment, Catherine McKenna, the municipality of Île-d'Anticosti will submit the island's application for designation as World Heritage by the UNESCO.

UNESCO Chair in Landscape and Environmental Design at University of Montreal (CUPEUM) supports the candidacy of Anticosti Island, considering that this site is a unique cultural landscape in the world and that it deserves its place alongside great milestones of our past.

Philippe Poullaouec-Gonidec and Gérald Domon co-signed an opinion letter in Le Devoir and granted several interviews in support of this commitment.
