Montreal, October 9, 2019 – As part of a declaration of common intention, the Chief Scientist of Quebec, Mr. Rémi Quirion, and the Secretary General of the Canadian Commission for UNESCO (CCU), Mr. Sébastien Goupil, have decided to support the sixteen UNESCO Chairs of Quebec. Within the scope of this agreement—qualified as historic by Mr. Goupil—the UNESCO Chair in Urban landscape will benefit from a financial support of $45 000 for three years, that is to say, $15 000 per year.
“This agreement makes me particularly happy because it is a recognition of the Quebec UNESCO Chairs by Quebec. Consequently, the Quebec Research Funds are now full-fledged partners. This financial support is a much-appreciated financing lever in regards to the renewal of the UNESCO Chair, horizon 2019-2023.” states Professor Philippe Poullaouec-Gonidec, Director of the UNESCO Chair in Urban Landscape of the University of Montreal.
